    Hello from Prescott,

As an "old" California mushroom procurer, I have been fascinated by the diversity of mushrooms in the woodland areas here.  I've taken some photos, and I've eaten some that passed my Californian "smell" test and looked very much like my old field friends there (N. California hills/fields).  Is there ever an opportunity for us here?  I am unable to stay overnite on forays.

    Cheers,  Anne Solt

Once we are at Sunrise Resort, will transportation be provided to the forays for all who need it? Was thinking that our car wouldn't be able to manage most of roads due to the rain.

Since we have had so much rain, it looks like we are not going to need to worry too much about lengthy drives on back roads to get to where mushrooms are fruiting. Many of our foray sites will be right off the pavement or off a major, (hopefully) well-maintained dirt road. We have 2 15-passenger vans arranged for those who would like to leave their vehicle behind.

    Hi,

What is the policy on bringing dogs on the forays?

It is allowed as long as your animal is well behaved towards people, other dogs, and wildlife. If this is not the case, the foray captain has the authority to make you leash your dog, or may refuse to allow it at all.

If your dog likes to chase deer or elk and does not come when called, you could lose it temporarily or permanently, and cause an annoyance to the others on your foray who would have to wait while you looked for it.

Also, be advised that Arizona law permits ranchers or farmers to shoot any dog that harasses livestock, and we will be hunting on open range land with plenty of cattle. Use a leash if there is any doubt as to your dog's manners and obedience.

We are members of NAMA so I checked its website for our foray and it is not listed.  I hope it's still in the works.

Terri, I hope to open the registration up this coming week. Budgeting is almost complete but there are a few loose ends.

You can get a room with two double beds for $55/night, an RV parking space and hookup for $20 per night, or a tent camping spot for $8 per car per night. Or you can skip lodging and just pay for the foray registration and meals.

One point I overlooked is that you need to be a NAMA member to participate in a NAMA foray. If you haven't joined already the link is here: http://www.namyco.org/join.php.

[NOTE: Edited 5/7/17 to remove a suggestion to book rooms directly with hotel. We are accepting hotel bookings with foray registrations.]

This topic is for discussion of anything to do with the 2017 NAMA Regional Foray in Arizona, except for ride sharing or room sharing, which have their own topics.
