AMS Scientific Committee Chair Bill Warner will be repeating his talk entitled Mushrooming Arizona: Edible & Poisonous Mushrooms for Beginners on Saturday, March 16, at 10:30 a.m.

This event will take place in the Chandler Basha Library, 5990 S Val Vista Dr, Chandler, AZ 85249 (on the campus of Basha High School).

Given the generous precipitation this winter and in anticipation of things starting to warm up with spring, this lecture will be a perfect “tune-up” for upcoming mushroom season with information about morels as the season (hopefully) starts. This lecture is intended primarily for novice mushroom hunters, those needing a refresher, those who wish to learn some fungal biology, and more experienced mushroomers who are new to Arizona and would like to see pictures of our local mushrooms. The talk will cover basic biology and mushrooming practices, and will cover a number of species easier for beginners to identify, as well as their potentially toxic look-alikes (if any).

Registration for AMS members is limited to 45, so please sign up promptly. Each member may bring a non-member guest. More information can be found at the Chandler Basha Library event website here.
