Learn how to grow your own mushrooms with local expert Kevin Fitzgerald. This workshop is perfect for the home-based mushroom cultivation hobbyist or those exploring the potential for small-scale commercial production.

In addition to learning about mushroom cultivation, you will get an opportunity to purchase mushroom grown products and foods from Tina Campbell. Tina and Kevin have grown their business from the ground up and are uniquely qualified to share techniques and lessons learned on how to grow mushrooms and create value added products from a home-based business.

Kevin Fitzgerald and Tina Campbell are the owners and operators of Sun Valley Harvest, LLC. An urban farm providing gourmet mushrooms to local markets in the Phoenix, Prescott and Flagstaff areas. They grow approximately 150 pounds of a broad variety of species per week, and manage the entire production and sales operation from spore to store. Tina makes a number of tinctures, oils, spice mixes, and other culinary and medicinal products including running the Mush Luv business that offers many of these products and consultation services. Kevin manages the lab and cultivation process. Starting on a hobby scale he has grown from mini green house and small humidifier to full size room fully climate controlled.

The workshop costs $25 per person. There will be two sessions, each with a capacity of 25 each. This event is only available to AMS members. If there are still spots available one week prior to the event it will be opened up to the general public for registration.

This course is a special opportunity for hands on learning from those who grow, cultivate, create and sell fungi products on a daily basis. All participants will go home with a mushroom grow bag and there will be lunch for sale of home grown/homemade mushroom tacos and reishi jasmine iced tea. For the mushroom lover, this will be an undeniable treat. Given Father's day is the week before, it is also an opportunity to indulge that special someone with a fun and valuable learning experience in the cool environs of Flagstaff at the height of summer.
