Are you interested in learning the steps of DNA sequencing of fungi from a local Arizona laboratory?

We have a unique opportunity for a few AMS members to participate in a one day workshop led by Dr. Betsy Arnold from the University of Arizona. On Thursday, October 6, 2022, Dr. Arnold will lead a hands-on workshop meant for beginners from 9am to 4pm. She has space open for a small number of people who are available and interested in learning the basics of fungi DNA sequencing including DNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, sequence editing, and BLAST analysis, along with an introduction to terminology, trouble-shooting, and best practices.

This in-person event is being offered to AMS members for free and is meant to help AMS members who are interested in learning the steps in DNA sequencing fungi and are available at this time.

The workshop will be on the University of Arizona Main Campus in Tucson, Arizona. The workshop is free of charge, but participants will be responsible for covering their own parking or transportation costs.

All you need to do to attend is register here. Please only register if you are certain you will be able to attend the workshop. Since there are only a few spaces available please only register if you are available to attend the entire workshop from 9am - 4pm.

Those who successfully register will be emailed more detailed information about the event. No prerequisites are necessary. Participants will need to bring KN94/KN95/N95 mask.
