Morel forays are rare here in Arizona because it is difficult to find a lot of morels and to do it with a group of people. They require you dedicate a full day of your time, and often require traveling a great distance. Participating in a morel foray is a great educational experience to learn about the natural history of Arizona's mountains and spring fungi and plants, but there is no guarantee you will find or go home with any morels. Please make sure you are okay with that before registering for this event.

Morel forays tend to fill up really fast. Please only register if you are certain you would be able to drive to and attend the foray. It is a 5-6 hour drive ONE WAY from Phoenix to where we are meeting on the North Kaibab, and the foray itself will involve driving for about another hour. So, please make sure you have the time and are willing to burn a few tanks of gas (and/or electricity) as part of this event.

Some of the travel to the foray areas will require traveling on dirt roads in areas burned from wildfire. A high clearance vehicle is recommended and there may be carpool opportunities at the initial meet-up location.

Those who successfully register online with get a confirmation email with specific instructions on where and when we are meeting. 

This event will require hiking up to a mile or two on uneven terrain in recently burned areas. This event is free for Arizona Mushroom Society members. Members may bring up to one guest.
