The 2026 monsoon season has come on strong with regular deluges throughout the state. The rains are well above normal, which means conditions for mushroom fruiting are going to be excellent over the next several weeks. 

This is our time to shine and we are taking advantage of this crazy monsoon season by planning a Flagstaff Friday Foray every Friday for the next several weeks in addition to other events in mountainous areas in every part of AZ. Our first Flagstaff Friday Foray will be on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 5:00 PM. 

To attend this event or any other foray, you must be registered. Those who successfully register will be emailed meet-up location details. 

Space is limited and event fill up quickly. Please only register if you are able to attend the event. We will have many more events this year, which will be announced via email and posted on our event calendar.

Please be sure to come to the event prepared for summer monsoon season in the high mountains. You will need hiking boots, sunscreen, food, water, rain gear, and basic first aid supplies. Please be sure to bring a trusty knife and/or garden trowel, and basket or paper bags or baskets for collecting mushrooms.

The monsoon season has been active as of late and it is possible the event is delayed or cancelled due to thunder storms. 

Registrants can include one guest. Children under 15 may attend with a registered adult and must be under supervision of their parent(s) at all times. Dogs must be well-behaved and on-leash during the event. This event includes hiking at high elevation, sometimes in areas with heavy downed logs and debris, which can be difficult for children, dogs, and many of us as well!

This event is free to all AMS members who register. If you are the only member of your household signing up for the event, you can sign up one non-AMS guest to attend. Those who register will receive an e-mail with the meet-up location and time. Please make sure to check your spam folder if you do not receive an e-mail. This event is free of charge.
