Have you ever wondered if you could train your dog to find mushrooms, or better yet, truffles?

Well this is your chance to take a seminar to learn how to train your dog(s) from truffle dog expert, Heather Dawson.

Heather has been captivated by wild truffles since training her first truffle dog nearly a decade ago. Now a PhD student studying truffle diversity at the University of Oregon with the help of her dogs, Heather will share the steps you can take to help train your dog to find local underground fungi.

This event is a rare opportunity to learn directly from the expert and to learn more about local, Arizona, underground fungi and truffles. This is a one-time special event we are excited to bring to you while Heather is in our neck of the woods studying truffle diversity after a record-breaking year of rain. We are charging $30/person for this event to compensate Heather and her dogs for their travel from Oregon and her valuable time for this event.

It is very important to understand that while this seminar focuses on how to train dogs to detect underground fungi, NO DOGS are allowed at this event. The presence of other dogs can be a major distraction that prevents the truffle dogs from following commands and is distracting for attendees as well.

Space is limited. Please only register if you are able to attend the event. Cancellations on or after November 6th are not refundable.

Those who register successfully will receive a confirmation email with meet-up location details. If you feel you registered successfully, but did not receive an email, please check your spam folder and then contact us.

Please be sure to come to the event prepared for cold, rainy weather in the mountains. You will need warm clothes, hiking boots, food, water, rain gear, and basic first aid supplies. Please be sure to bring a note pad to take notes so you can remember the steps for training your dog to find fungi.
